The Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities offers a wide array of education programs to professionals seeking on-going training in the area of developmental disabilities.

CDL - Center for Development and Learning

The CDL is focused on education and training to improve services for individuals with developmental disabilities and to train expert service providers. The CDL provides short-term and long-term interdisciplinary training opportunities for individuals at the master’s, pre-doctoral, doctoral, post-doctoral, and professional levels. The primary training initiatives are funded through the Maternal and Child Health Bureau’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program and are designed to foster clinical and leadership skills in professionals and students in the areas of training, education, research, community-outreach, technical assistance, public policy, advocacy, systems administration, and clinical practice.

IDDRC - Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center

The IDDRC conducts a number of educational activities related to research and research training on neurodevelopmental disorders. In addition to seminars and workshops, the NDRC works to develop researchers with expertise in both the biological basis and clinical manifestations of neurodevelopmental disorders through its NIH T32 Postdoctoral Research Training Program.

TEACCH - Treatment and Education for Autistic and related Communication-handicapped CHildren

Each year, TEACCH provides training to over 3,500 teachers, other professionals, and parents from both within North Carolina and other states and countries throughout the world through both TEACCH A&R offices, as well as through regional trainings provided by our outlying centers. In addition, TEACCH student training programs include training of post-docs, pre-docs, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

FSN - Family Support Network

Educational activities of FSN-CI are available to family members and service providers. Service providers can receive training at both pre-service and in-service levels. University students and Pediatric and Family Medicine Residents can learn about family-centered care and community-based support.
